Eyetronics offers facial performance capture of an actor/actress in 3D.

Eyetronics facial performance capture is a new, revolutionary, ground-breaking technology of capturing an actor's performance in 3D.
The performance capture is based on a high resolution video recording session of the actor's performance while a fine detailed grid is projected on his face using fiber optic lighting.
The technology captures a 3D model for every frame of the camera.
It is an extremely mobile setup, which makes it easy to arrange a facial performance capture session at any location, reducing the overall costs and logistic problems in film production.
Eyetronics has provided facial performance capture for feature films Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, League of
Extraordinary Gentlemen
and television documentary Virtual History.
How Eyetronics does facial performance capture?
Eyetronics uses a fiber optic projection technique that displays a very fine, detailed grid on to the surface.
At the same time, a high resolution camera is capturing the facial performance capture of the actor/actress in 3D.
The Eyetronics high-definition performance capture technology is the simplest and most affordable ways to achieve a believable and recognizable performance and opens new possibilities in the special effects production.
A typical set-up
A typical set-up looks like the leftimage.
A camera and a fiber optic projection unit are positioned slightly from each other. Colorod dots are being applied to the subject for frame tracking, and the subject is seated at approximately 2 meters from the performance capture unit.
Why better?
Eyetronics' performance capture technology is at a much higher detail level than traditional mo-cap systems. While traditional mo-cap system capture only the dots applied to the face (ranging from 40 to hundreds), Eyetronics is capturing the entire 3D face for every frame, reaching up to 40,000 points.
The high density of this Facial MoCap data gives a much more realistic animation compared to the until now standard facial motion capture.
