VFX Testimonials

"When, at the last minute, I needed a 500-foot long ship and dock scanned, the Eyetronics system was mobile, quick and adaptable. It allowed me to get the scan done in the time frame I had before the ship left the harbor."
John Sullivan - VFX Supervisor - Next
Stunningly life-like characters are critical to the Mass Effect experience, and high-quality head scanning from Eyetronics was an essential part of making that happen. Eyetronics offers the technology, speed, experience, and flexibility that make working with them the easiest part of making next-gen characters.
Casey Hudson - Bioware - Project Director - Mass Effects
Eyetronics was asked to deliver hundreds of scans to several facilities over the course of just a few months. They were very flexible with and accommodating to our shooting schedule and turned over the models on time and on the targeted budget. The models worked out very well and the digital character s can be seen all throughout the film Poseidon. And they were always a pleasure to work with.
Boyd Shermis - Poseidon/Warner Bros - Visual Effects Designer/Supervisor - Poseidon
On 'Stay Alive' Eyetronics provided us with an extremely flexible and cost-effective scanning solution. They met us on location and scanned all the principal actors in-between takes. Furthermore, they delivered usable meshes from the scans within two weeks of the session. Throughout the process Eyetronics showed a great commitment to meeting our needs by tailoring their process to fit within our production pipeline. I would highly recommend their services."
Kent Seki - VFX Supervisor - Stay Alive
"We selected Eyetronics for this project after an exhaustive review process because their graphics are drop dead beautiful and they have extensive experience working with high profile celebrities.
They also provided innovative solutions to all of our concerns with respect to scanning a large number of people in a short period of time under unpredictable and often adverse conditions."
John Olshan - MLBPA - Category Director/Interactive Games - MLB 07 The Show
"Whenever I do a movie I always use Eyetronics (LA and Belgium) to scan the principal characters (and animals too) and we almost always end up using those digital characters somewhere; Grimm was no exception."
Kent Houston - Peerless Camera Company - VFX Producer - The Brothers Grimm
“The Eyetronics scanning service is a unique solution, combining the flexibility of a portable scanning system with software that quickly produces superbly textured, high-resolution models. Their system can be customized to the scale of the object being scanned and has no problems with undercuts, blocked or scanner shadowed areas. The result is a full high-resolution model that can meet tight production deadlines.”
Tim McGovern - VFX Supervisor - A Sound of Thunder
"For Batman Begins, Eyetronics again provided us a first class 3D scanning service as usual. This was especially helpful because their highly portable optical rig worked well in some awkward locations, while creating high quality scans. Eyetronics delivered raw scans and enhanced model scans that provided an excellent foundation for our digital Batman process."
Paul Franklin - Double Negative - VFX Supervisor - Batman Begins
"Eyetronics was a true time saver. Their process eliminates guesswork and gets us to animation faster."
Jeff Campbell - Visual Effects Supervisor - Land of the Dead
"Our digital Oompa Loompas used extensive performance facial capture from Eyetronics, who once again met and surpassed all our production needs.”
Chas Jarrett - The Moving Picture Company - Visual Effects Supervisor - Charlie & The Chocolate Factory
The cyberscanning for Blade: Trinity required a company that could not only deliver fast and accurate scans, but be flexible enough to travel back and forth from Vancouver throughout the course of a five month shoot. Eyetronics’ portable scanning equipment allowed them to simply hop on a morning flight and be on set and ready to scan by midday. With an extraordinary amount of work to be done in such a short time period, Eyetronics was able to provide us with over fifty cyberscans saving us time and money in post production.
Joe Conmy - Visual Effects Producer - Blade Trinity
"The detail of the facial motion capture was unprecedented, resulting in movement so subtle that it was felt rather than seen. Eyetronics' technology was an important contributing factor in our quest to create realistic human faces.”
Jim Radford - The Moving Picture Company - VFX Supervisor - Virtual History
“I was amazed at how flexible, fast and accurate the Eyetronics team was! The Eyetronics folks flew for 36 hours to get to our location. They made the mistake of visiting the set before they went to the hotel and then the schedule changed so the actors only were available for 10 minutes -- that day! They did an amazing job of capturing the performances as well as all the 3D data. Thanks, Eyetronics, you saved the production an incalculable amount of time and money."
Jeffrey A. Okun - Visual Effects Supervisor - The Last Samurai
“We chose to scan the characters and items instead of using hand-modeling or cyber scans because of the ease of getting a detailed scan and because we were so impressed by the level of photo-realistic detail from Eyetronics’ models.”
“We would not have been able to achieve such a high level of detail using hand modeling, while still sticking to the time constraints and the actors' schedules. The detail would have had to be added later, so it wouldn't have been as realistic. The ability to capture texture maps instead of painting them was also a huge time saver, and helped add to the level of detail. We actually had to take out some detail because we were able to capture so much with the scans.”
Ariel Shaw - VFX Supervisor - Freddy vs Jason
“Scanning four actors took about an hour. The entire process was pretty quick and painless. Not only did Eyetronics’ models meet our technical needs, but since their system is portable, we were able to save time and money by not having to leave the set in Toronto.”
“Modeling the human face from scratch would not have been logical for this movie. It was important that our scanning solution have mobility, ease-of-use on location, and speed. Eyetronics was able to meet all of these expectations and provided great models for our visual effects animators to work with.”
John Sullivan - MGM - VFX Supervisor - Bulletproof Monk
“The flexibility and portability of the ShapeWare system was a tremendous asset. Getting actors and machines together can be next to impossible and we needed the scans done quickly on set during the filming of the actual scene.”
Todd Isroelit - Digital Domain - VFX Producer - Star Trek: Nemesis
“It was time- and cost-efficient to use Eyetronics’ services. Eyetronics allowed us to dedicate our resources to finishing other work, rather than spending weeks building and texturing the model as we would normally have to do.”
Sharon Lark - VFX Producer - Die Another Day
